September is Senior Month at Old Sturbridge Village
Take advantage of special discounts for seniors (ages 65 and up) and enjoy special programs with seniors in mind during an early autumn visit. Bring a carload or arrange to meet friends or family members at Old Sturbridge Village, just minutes from the intersection of the Mass Pike and I-84 in Sturbridge. More than half the museum's historical buildings have wheelchair-accessible entrances, and wheelchairs are available for loan at the Visitor Center.  Benches are located along walking paths and in many interior spots throughout the museum.  For more information call 1-800-SEE-1830, or visit www.osv.org.

Sturbridge Annual Harvest Festival Weekend
The annual Sturbridge Harvest Festival is held on the Sturbridge Common and features crafters, children’s activities and plenty of family fun.   Event is held on both Saturday and Sunday.  Free Admission.  On Sunday, join the chef’s of Sturbridge as they feature a food tasting extravaganza.  Food ticket price is 50 cents each and food item costs vary.  Call  (800) 628-8379 for further information. Scarecrow Contest
Publick House Historic Inn.  It is not unusual to see over 75 scarecrows on the inn’s front lawn during the peak foliage month of October.  Don’t expect to see your traditional scarecrows, because this has become an exciting  artistic competition.  Adults, children, businesses, groups, and artists alike are invited to boast their creativity. Viewing and voting will take place from September 29th through October 26th.   Winners will be determined from ballots cast by the thousands of tourists and local residents that will visit during the month.  The contest will wrap up with an awards ceremony held during the Harvestfest Weekend on October 25th and 26th.  A traditional New England Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is available for all groups following the viewing of the scarecrows.   For further information contact Marie Forest at 1-800-PUBLICK ext 282 or www.publickhouse.com.

Old Sturbridge Village celebrates the best of autumn in New England, with special crafts demonstrations – including those of our new OSV Craftspersons-in-Residence, heirloom vegetable and flower displays (Village-grown and visitor-grown), heritage breeds of farm animals, oxen demonstrations, horse-powered cider mill demonstrations with visitor participation, musical performances, wagon rides, 1830s base ball, and hands-on activities for all ages. Hyland Orchard & Brewery Music in the Fields
Join the Hyland family and crew for family theme weekends.  Help celebrate the harvest season, Hyland style!  Located on Whites Hill in Sturbridge, Hyland Orchard & Brewery invites you to take a scenic look at modern family farming in New England.  Combining old farming methods with new, Hyland’s has become a new family tradition.  Live music, great beer and food.  Guided brewery tours, hosted by one of the “men of Hyland’s” and more.  Visit the animal attraction, pick your own apples, press your own cider and choose your favorite pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  Take a tractor pulled wagon ride through the orchards, too, September through mid October (weather pending).   Call toll free for further information (877) HYLANDS.  www.hylandbrew.com

Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Show
The Brimfield Antiques Show is the largest outdoor antiques show in the world, with over 6,000 dealers and 100,000+  visitors during the coarse of the week.  While it is convenient to refer to it as “The Show”, it is actually comprised of 23 fields, owned by “Promoters”, who lease spaces to dealers from all over the world.  The Show takes place three times per year.  Mark your calander.  This years dates are:  May 14-19, July 8-13 and September 10-15, 2002.  Dates for 2003 are as follows:  May 13-18, July 8-13 and September 2-7.  For further information call (508) 347-7345.  Check out the details!

Historic Drover’s Roast at Salem Cross Inn
1700’s American trailside feast recalling the days of John Pynchon, the colonies’ first cattle drover.  Featuring prime ribs of beef hand rubbed with an age-old recipe of spices and slow roasted four hours over an open field stone pit.  A great Sunday afternoon of community festivities.  June and September.  Call (508) 867-8337 form more information.
