Garden Weekend at Old
Sturbridge Village
A glorious
Garden Weekend (June 11 & 12, 2005) will feature talks and tours,
hands-on fun, garden vendors, and special guest appearances. Michael
Weishan, host of PBS TV’s Victory Garden, acclaimed garden writer Amy
Goldman, and Worcester’s own Paul Rogers are featured. A full weekend
of special themed tours, heirloom plant sales, and book signings round
out a weekend of learning and fun for garden lovers of all ages! For

Brimfield
Antiques and Collectibles Show
The Brimfield Antiques Show is
the largest outdoor antiques show in the world, with over 6,000
dealers and 100,000+ visitors during the course of the week.
While it is convenient to refer to it as “The Show”, it is
actually comprised of 23 fields, owned by “Promoters”, who lease
spaces to dealers from all over the world.
The Show takes place three times a year, usually around
Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

The Great American Picnic and Independence Day at Old Sturbridge
Village
America's freedoms are celebrated with a rousing reading of the
Declaration of Independence (on the 4th!) and a long
weekend (July 2-4) filled with musical performances, marching,
mustering, and old-fashioned fun and games, including Base Ball 1830s
Style. Visitors are invited to leave their “John Hancock” on a giant
Declaration of Independence and enjoy a picnic on the Common—with
their own food or our Fried Chicken Picnic Lunch. For more

From Red Coats to Rebels: Exploring American
Military Life over Time
The first
weekend of August brings this exciting
program to the area! Encampments of
re-enactors representing military groups
from the 1600s to the Civil War illustrate
the historical evolution of uniforms and
military accoutrements over three centuries.
Highlights of the weekend include drum corps
performances, cannon and firearms
demonstrations, individual presentations by
each unit, a Parade of History with all
units joining in, militia drills for
children, making militia hats, soldiers and
paper dolls, mock battles and target shoots,
period dance demonstrations, and a fashion
event for both men’s and women’s military
and civilian finery. For more
